Having qualified 18th Staring made up places to finish 12th and score championship points first time out in what was a sometimes chaotic first race. A multiple rider crash brought out the red flags and stopped the first attempted running of the race, meaning several riders could not make the restart.
Pedercini Racing Kawasaki rider Jeremy Guarnoni, the second-top Kawasaki qualifier, had to retire from the race but his team-mate Christophe Ponsson ended up 14th, scoring two championship points.
Behind Staring in 12th, the second placed of the Kawasaki riders on raceday was Alessandro Andreozzi (Team Pedercini Kawasaki) in 13th place.
The next round is at Assen in the Netherlands, on 17 April.
