A regular top ten finisher in WorldSBK on the KRT factory Ninja, Lascorz also has a deep knowledge of racing in World Supersport and smaller capacity classes which will bring a huge range of insight to the team in their bid to work hard for a second WorldSSP300 title for Carrasco. Lascorz attended a number of winter test events before making the season long commitment to help Ana and the Provec team in 2021, and has already forged a strong relationship with Nico Sartori, Ana’s crew chief. He will also be present at the planned media unveiling of Ana’s 2021 Ninja race bike on 31 March at the Montmeló circuit.
Working alongside Nico, Ana and the rest of the team, Lascorz will focus on rider feeling, translating this into machine setting, the rider/machine interface and technical aspects of Ana’s approach to racing. With Ricky Cardús retained as consultant for flat track and off-road riding, the 2018 WSSP300 Champion has a formidable network of advisors and team staff to rely on in what is fast becoming one of the most followed categories of motorcycle sport. A familiar sight trackside in his lime green mobility chair, Lascorz will be accompanied to every race on the 2021 calendar by his day-to-day helper, Zoraida Esteve assisted by the 17Foundation support plan.
Commenting on the appointment, Managing Director of Provec, Guim Roda said:
“It’s no secret that Joan is part of the fabric of the Provec racing project and we see this as an exciting opportunity for him plus a real performance benefit for the team. Like Ana, Joan started racing on mini bikes. He has experience of many racing classes and valuable insight into the tactics of racing and getting the best out of a Ninja race bike.”
Joan Lascorz summed up his feelings by saying:
“I am very excited to do this, I've never be done this role as race consultant, but I was with the guys recently in Montmeló test and in other smaller tracks the past weeks, I love the way Provec works with such excellence, I know Nico and "Fleky" from the past when I was a rider, and Ana is a great rider and supper committed, but I believe I can help her to cover some aspects to get even better. I am doing this from a voluntary perspective and I hope I can add some small improvement to this project while learning myself at the same time"
2018 World SSP300 Champion, Ana Carrasco, said:
"I am very happy that Joan is going to be with us this season because he is a rider with a lot of experience in this championship; and besides he has a lot of technical knowledge. He can give me many things, both at the riding level and technically. Also, he knows the team very well and especially my Crew Chief Nico, as they worked together when Joan was racing. I think that between the three of us we can make a good team to consistently find a good set-up for the bike at every circuit. I thank Joan for wanting to be part of our project and for being so excited and motivated to help us grow."
Crew Chief, Nico Sartori concluded:
“We are delighted to officially welcome Joan to the team. To have someone with his experience to turn to unites a formidable group of people with one common purpose, to win the 2021 WorldSSP300 Championship!”
