On Friday, 25 July, Jeremy placed his bike tenth on the starting grid after Superpole Qualifying, with high hopes of an even better result in the first 18-lap WorldSSP race of the Hungarian weekend.
The start of WorldSSP Race One on Saturday, 26 July, was delayed due to an earlier multiple-rider crash in the first WorldSBK weekend. It was not shortened from its scheduled 18-lap duration.
When the race got underway, Jeremy made a good start but did not find the overall race pace he and his team had been expecting after their hard work on the opening day.
Jeremy would find himself at the back of a four-rider fight, and then in 14th place overall after 18 laps of the tight and intense new 4.075km long circuit.
There will now be a second 18-lap Balaton WorldSSP race for Jeremy to compete in, on Sunday, 27 July, when the weather conditions are expected to flip from the warm and dry conditions of the past few days to periods of heavy rain.
Jeremy Alcoba stated: “Today was a tough day in the office. I had a really good start and tried to be careful in the first two corners, because seeing what happened in the WorldSBK race, I tried to manage it as well as possible. I think I did well in the first part, and was in ninth place, I think. Then, the pace was not as good as we expected. I struggled a lot during the race and the last laps were really difficult. We were in a good fight with some other riders, and I enjoyed that, but I lost the fight this time. Let’s see what the weather will be like tomorrow and if it rains, maybe that will help us. Thanks to all the team and let’s look to tomorrow.”
