Tommy Searle back to racing in the Netherlands

Team CLS Kawasaki Monster Energy's Tommy Searle will return to MXGP action in next weekend's Dutch GP, just eight weeks after injury in Thailand. Alessandro Lupino will have surgery next month.

Eight weeks after the horrific crash during the second round of the FIM World MXGP Motocross Championship in Thailand, Tommy Searle and the CLS team have mutually decided to schedule his comeback for the sixth round of the series at Valkenswaard in southern Holland on May 3/4. Following successful surgery to his wrist in Thailand, Tommy has recovered quickly thanks to a tough training regime in the gym, cycling and mountain biking, and was able to get back on his Kawasaki KX450F one week ago. Tommy has now been given the all clear from his doctors to race the next GP even though he only rode his bike for five days, and the English rider is delighted that he can return to the CLS awning alongside the team staff and his MX2 teammates.

Alessandro Lupino will be out of action for several months after damaging knee ligaments whilst training for the Bulgarian GP and he is still waiting to have surgery. The Italian rider had a couple of medical examinations after Bulgaria, but his knee is still sore so he must wait a few more days before he undergoes surgery with the doctors of the famous ‘Clinica Mobile’.

Tommy Searle: "I am looking forward to racing Valkenswaard. Although I’m not 100% and have only been on the bike for a few days I want to get back out racing so that I can build my speed and fitness back over the coming weeks. Jean Jacques and Gaël have been great and have supported me the whole time; I would like to thank them for this.”

Alessandro Lupino: “I will have surgery on the 14th of May, not before because my knee is still too swollen. I will have the operation in Villa Serena at Forli, by Lorena San Giorgi and Giorgio Gondolini who both work at the Clinica Mobile. My recovery should take several months; I feel frustrated but that's motocross! It’s life, and I will return stronger than ever!”
